What is Early Childhood Education? (ECE)

The main purpose of early childhood education is to lead effectual growth and development of the students. It creates the foundation for learning among the students, so that they are able to develop their skills and abilities efficiently from the early age.

Simply put, the purpose of ECE is to provide children with strategies that help them develop the emotional, social and cognitive skills needed to become lifelong learners.

The Preschool Education Certificate is a one and a half-year programme that provides students with both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills training necessary for students working in a preschool setting, family day care home, or child care center. The certificate is based on the Queens College curriculum approved by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

At the end of the course, the students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the elements and dynamics of quality education and care for young children.

  2. Demonstrate appropriate skills for providing quality education and care for young children.

  3. Demonstrate appropriate skill in interacting with young children and their families.


This program is recognized by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and is accredited by Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA).

Graduates are qualified to pursue their study in Diploma in Preschool Education.



Graduates are qualified to become Assistant Teacher in private or public school. 



 1  ½ years and 60 credit hours


SPM with at least 1 credit in any subject including a passed  in Islamic Studies or Moral Education or any equivalent qualification
